December 17th
Tournaments in early 2010
If you are interested in some early rugby in 2010, please read-on
We are planning to send teams to Truro and to the St. Jean Tournament. St Jean is Saturday February 27th, and Truro is planned for March 12 - 14th.
St. Jean is a 15-a-side tournament played indoors, 3 games of 18 minutes each. Costs to play will be only help to cover the entry fee, so the more of you there are, the cheaper it is to play.
Truro is a slightly different beast. It's a 7's tournament in Truro Nova Scotia. Our Tour comittee is working out the details of how we will get up there and accommodations and such, needless to say, it's a good time with plenty of good stories.
Both of these are open to ALL members, rookie/vet/young/old. The most you will require is to have been registered for 2009. If you are interested in either of these tournaments, please send an email to thebarbs@gmail.com. We would like to send both a mens and womens teams to both tournaments, so please sign up!

Greetings Barbs,
August 15th, there will be a lamb roasting on a spit, in the general vicinity of a pool, and many, many coolers full of ice and beer.
The, what might become annual, Barbs pool party and lamb roast is coming next saturday. The event will be entirely kid-friendly, and the somewhat larger kids will be hanging around in the pool until the wee-hours!
For those that remember last year, we all had a blast, and plan to do the same this year. The event begins in the afternoon, at John G's place. Further details, such as his address, will be handed out at practice (for rather obvious reasons, this event will not be advertised on Facebook!). Please come along to regular practices, or call the nearest Barb member if you can't make it to practice.
We will send out a further email this week with details on start times, and JohnG's address for those that didn't get it, or write it down!
See you then!

Rookie Night
Rookie Night is upon us once again, and this year promises to be a memorable event. We have quite a few rookies this year, so we will need lots of bodies to show up to help keep order!
The night begins at 7:30pm at Mckibbins. The night ends at Bourbon West, early in the morning. The Masters At Arms will be enforcing a strict dress code as follows: Men Rookies : Fairy Princesses Women Rookies: Working Men (think construction worker!) Vets: Figures of Authority.
Cristal Zavala and Adam Warnock, the Masters-at-Arms, are charged with ensuring this dress code is adhered to, and will have spare clothing on-hand for those that either do not follow the code, or are not up to their exacting standards.
There will be lots of free drinks, along with plenty of games with punishments for those that lose.... There might also be punishments for those that win! The Masters at Arms may also deliver punishment for any questional behaviour....
Bring some cash for the taxi to Bourbon West, where we shall end the night, quite possibly with some Rookies on stage.....
See you all on Saturday! P.s Rookies thinking they can get out of this.... Remember we know who you are! |

Hello Fellow Barbs,
For those that haven't yet heard... Women 1st XV are playing in Quebec City, on the Plains of Abraham at 1:30pm. The men 1st XV are playing in 3-Rivers, which is conveniently, half-way to Quebec, at 3pm.
The plan is simple... If you're playing, Women stick around, Men keep going up to Quebec, and those not playing, watch either game, and we all meet in Quebec City for a big blow-out in the evening!
We have been able, with the awesome help of Angela, to book 15 rooms at the same hotel we were at last year. For $127 you get a suite that can comfortably sleep 4 people, with breakfast included!
All you need to do, is call the Hotel and reserve a room for yourself(you'll need a credit card). Tell them you're with the Montreal Barbarians Rugby club, and presto!
