The Barbarians Youth Program just wrapped up their annual youth rugby tournament. On behalf of the youth program I want to thank all the players, coaches, BBQ chefs, refs and all people that helped out to make the day a great success. With 9 different clubs and 5 age categories, we could not have done it without you. See the pictures at –

We would like to wish both Brandon Haiman and Colin Frost all the best next week at the National Championships Festival in Calgary, Alberta. They are both representing Quebec U16 at the tournament. This is Brandon Haiman’s 1st year in the Barbs Junior Program and first time representing Quebec. He is 16, his position is number 8 and is characterized by his strong runs with the ball and punishing hits in contact. Colin Frost has been part of the Barbs Junior Program for 3 years now and it is his 2nd year playing for Quebec. He also turned 16 yesterday (Happy Birthday Colin!), he plays the flanker position and is characterized by his great Rugby IQ as well as his strong techinque at the breakdowns and in the lineout. We are extremely proud of them and hope that they enjoy their experience at the Festival this year!

The Montreal Barbarians would like to congratulate all of the players and coaching staff of the women’s team on a great regular season that resulted in a first place finish in the Rugby Quebec Women’s Super League. They will be hosting a Semi-Final on August 16 against either CRQ or SAB. More details will be posted closer to the date of the match, but make sure to mark your calendars and get out to support the Barbs!

Alex Tessier and Canada have won the gold medal at the 2014 International University Sports Federation (FISU) Women’s Rugby Sevens Championship in Sao Jose de Campos, Brazil.

The women, who finished 2-1 in pool play, did not lose a match after dropping the opening game of their tournament to France.

Canada beat Belgium in the Cup Quarterfinals on Saturday, defeated Great Britain Sunday morning in the Cup Semifinals then beat the French in the Cup Final.
